Treatments for Lyme

There are many options we have when treating Lyme and co-infections or one can take the route of conventional antibiotics.The conventional antibiotic route can harm healthy cells in the body therefore causing the person more problems candida overgrowth or the bacteria builds up a resistance.

There are Alternative treatments here are Some suggestions of some that others have tried:

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy- This type of therapy is effective with the treatment of Lyme because the bacteria cannot survive in oxygen enviroments.

Vitamin C very effective for the immune system and essential for healing

Vitamin B Complex this is very effective alongside Vitamin C and the two compliment each other Vit B's and C need each other to process effectivly. Same as Vit E.

Vitamin E

MMS : Is an intense bacterial and Malaria destroyer.
Many in the Lyme community have found great benefit when using MMS.
Some Bacteria are very clever at using the host to evade treatment, with MMS they cannot.
MMS destroys the bacterias thick walls and dies.
The best analogy is the bacteria welcomes the MMS and the MMS destroys it from the inside out.

Colloidal Silver & Oregano- these two have helped many with infectious diseases like AIDS TB and Lyme and co-infections. They do not harm the healthy cells when used properly and are powerful bacterial and virus fighters.

Vitamin D or No Vitamin D ?

There is the Marshall Protocol which I have not tried myself. He suggests that Vitamin D is a immune suppressant. Please watch this video by Dr Marshall :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO-f0cqnz-4

I personally do believe that Vitamin D helps me rather than hinders my healing. I have found when i go to climates with a lot of sun I do get better, maybe the Lyme goes into remission who knows?
By being in the Sun more is this the key factor in treating the Lyme?
When I am in the hotter climates i swim more in swimming pools as well and so therefore I believe that because of the water purifying drops used in swimming pools this helps my body to absorb more MMS.

Krill Oil this is 48% more affective than other fish oils and is very beneficial there is a debate as to wether Vitamin D is harmful for treating Lyme or if Vitamin D is helpful. From my experience I have found because I live in the Northern Hemisphere my use of Krill oil is a must.http://www.i-care.net/krill.html

Herxheimer Reaction Or Herx

What is a Herxheimer reaction?

The herxheimer reaction which is sometimes shortened to “Herx”  it can also be reffered to a Jarisch –Herxheimer who observed it in the treatment of syphilis and later found it in other illnesses.

Generally it means a temporary increase of symptoms. The reaction occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins  at a faster rate than the body can properly dispose of the toxins.

The more toxic the body is the more severe the detoxification is.

One can get a “Herx” when one starts to treat Lyme or chronic Lyme with antibiotics or other alternative treatments.

Lyme disease Herx’s are very heavily based on syphilis reactions as both are caused by the bacteria known as a spirochete.

The Herxheimer reactions with Lyme are not identical to syphilis, in terms of timing, duration or frequency.

With Lyme disease the view is that the Herheimer reaction is the result of a Endotoxin release basically the toxin in the spirochete that is released as the Borrelia burgdoferi (Lyme) are killed or broken down.

Because of a Herx one may feel the treatment is not working, but the herx is a sign that the treatment is actually working and the body is going through a process of getting rid of the toxins.

What are the symptoms of a Herxheimer reaction?

It is a temporary increase in symptoms and sometimes new symptoms may also develop the symptoms can be

 Increased Joint pain

Increased Muscle pain

Headaches

Chills

Low grade fever

Drop in blood pressure

Hives

Rash

Sometimes the rash can be mistaken for a allergic reaction to the treatment.

Diarrhoea
Extreme fatigue and/or its opposite, restlessness
Cramps

Arthritic flair up
Insomnia
Nausea
Sinus congestion

Frequent urination and/or urinary tract discharges

Skin eruptions, including: boils, hives, and rashes.
Cold or flu-like symptoms
Strong emotions: anger, despair, sadness, fear, etc.
Suppressed memories arise
Anxiety
Mood swings
New phobias develop

Sometimes the symptoms can be identical to the disease itself, sometimes the discomfort is more intense than when developing the chronic illness. 

There maybe brief flare-ups of ones condition, this can happen after you are feeling your best.

Timing and frequency  

This is individualistic and a Herx can occur within days, hours or even weeks after one starts treating Lyme.

For some the herx can occur once or twice with others the continue through the course of treatment but lessening in severity. They can occur in cycles every 4 weeks for example.

Sometimes the herx can last days to weeks. It would best to document your exacerbations and one can tell if it is a normal symptom or progression of Lyme.

Just know your body is healing.

 

How to deal with the Herx

Taking pain medication can help to lessen discomfort,

Hot baths or other remedies that aid relaxation may help.

f you feel fatigued your body is talking to you and telling you to rest. Get the rest you need and be kind to yourself.

Drink plenty of water to flush toxins out your system. About 2 to 4 litres a day.

Yoga and EFT may be helpful and massage is also very beneficial above all relax as much as you possibly can.

The Good News 

A herxheimer reaction indicates the treatment is working and following each worsening may bring more improvement, however the lack of a herxheimer reaction should not cause anxiety or concern if your symptoms are improving.
